Palmer Dayhuff and Max Miller Earn Academic All-American Honors

The National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) has named student athletes Palmer Dayhuff ('19) and Max Miller (’20) as 2019 High School Academic All Americans for the 2018-2019 school year.

The National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) has named Cardinal Newman student athletes Palmer Dayhuff (’19) and Max Miller (’20) as 2019 High School Academic All Americans for the 2018-2019 school year.

Dayhuff competes in the sport of cross-country and has a 4.8 GPA. He is a four-time state place winner at the state championships, placing 15th as a freshman, 4th as a sophomore and winning the title both his junior and senior years. He will attend Clemson University and major in business.

Miller competes in the sports of tennis, football, and soccer and has a 4.6 GPA. Miller earned an All-State selection his sophomore year for tennis and received an All-State honorable mention selection for football this year as a junior. He plans to study engineering in college.

This marks the 26th year in which the NHSCA has honored those who triumph in and out of the classroom, and this year’s selection totals 134 Academic All Americans. These student athletes hail from 36 states. This year’s honorees excel in 13 different sports. The total breakdown is as follows: 10 freshman, 27 sophomores, 42 juniors and 55 seniors.
